La quintana was founded by the Rodriguez del Calello family in the mid seventeenth century. Initially it was called the home of writers, whose profession is now known as notaries. From that date remains an arch and main entrance, the 'llariega' and part of the main room.

La Quintana del Caleyo becomes 'Indiana'. The Asturian 'indianos', those who emigrated to America and returned with a considerable fortune, to demonstrate their wealth used to build large houses in colonial style.

In 1878 Frank Menendez Alonso, asturian who emigrated to California and made his fortune in those lands, Mayor of Salas for the Liberals, awarded with the 'Gran Cruz de Carlos III', bought the 'Casona del Caleyo' to its owners family Florez-Valdes de Uria Rodriguez del Calello-Miranda, embellishing and highlighting it again.

In June 2004 the descendants of Frank Menendez with rights (32 in total) sold la quintana to the current family quintana, which, through a process of three years, made a difficult and complex rehabilitation to revive again la Quintana del Caleyo, this time for many people to enjoy it as a charming hotel.
